Savile wiped from Scarborough…

Stories of the BBC presenter Jimmy Savile have come to light claiming he used to molest kids has shocked the people Scarborough.

After the programme ‘The Other Side of Jimmy Savile’ was aired, plans for a statue in Scarborough of the ex-presenter have now been scrapped and the council decided to take down a plaque located on Savile’s old home in Scarborough after it had been vandalised.

Savile used to live in and is now buried in Scarborough, and the people of the seaside town are said to be shocked by the news.

The headstone that resided on Savile’s grave was removed by his family as respect to the victims. A street in Scarborough that was named ‘Saviles Views’ after Savile has also been removed. All this has seen the ex-entertainer been wiped away from Scarborough and its history.

Speaking to Councillor Roxanne Murphy of the Scarborough Borough Council a week after the programme was shown on ITV, she said that the news is sad news for the town. “The people of Scarborough are sad of this news as he was a much-loved person.

“It is a sad revelation as he was seen to be a great person but we have to think of the people that he molested.”

The number of allegations against Savile has now topped 300. The allegations date back to 1960’s when he was the host of Top of the Pops. They now spread through the 1970’s where he worked for the BBC on his own programme ‘Jim’ll Fix It’ and through the 1980’s where he did most of his charity work.

His charity work has even been called up to question as allegations from when he did charity work at hospitals such as Stoke Mandeville.

As the allegations grow, so do the number of celebrities involved as stories of Gary Glitter and Freddie Starr molesting teenage girls in Savile changing room at the BBC have hit the headlines.

Speaking a week after the ITV programme on Savile was shown; Labour Councillor David L Belling of the Scarborough Borough Council refused to comment on the allegations on Savile but did say: “People should be wary of jumping on the band wagon.”
